For pages created via the forms, they should include the relevant categories from this list. If a form-created page is missing a category that it should have or is displaying a category that seems incorrect, use this page to log any bugs or feedback.
For pages created without the forms, please be certain to include relevant categories for things like clan, sect, region, VSS, etc. (See the Appropriate Categories section below for a full list of what to include.) Double-check these categories against the following list to make sure you're using the category where all the other pages of that type are collected. If you type [[Category:Malkavians]] (plural) or [[Category:Setites]] (rather than Ministry), people looking for pages under the "Malkavian" or "Ministry" categories won't see yours, which could be sad if it's someone looking for character ties or a new domain to play in or something.
Everyone is certainly welcome to create their own category pages, but please don't create new Clan or Region category pages, for instance, that might confuse other players. Pages for PC groups, such as coteries, lineages, gangs, clandestine organizations, and social clubs are probably the most common category pages players will need to create: good news! There's a form for that, too! Form:Masquerade PC Group Creation will create a simple but functional category page with all the necessary subcategory links to make it show up in people's searches, and it can easily be elaborated upon.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Be very careful when adding category links to category pages. If, for instance, you mark a Domain page as belonging to its VSS, and the VSS is correctly marked as a member of the Domain, you wind up with a loop where they're both subcategories of one another, and it's like a dividing by zero thing, and things crash, and nobody wants that! The page creation forms for the various categories should take care of all the subcategory stuff. That's why they're there.
Appropriate Categories
When making pages that don't use the standard forms and template, to ensure that your page shows up in the categories it's supposed to, be sure to include the following:
- For Masquerade PC pages
- [[Category:Masquerade PC]]
- [[Category:(clan or bloodline)]]*
- If the PC is a Banu Haqim, Salubri, Coyote, or one of the non-Telyav Tremere Houses: [[Category:(main clan, in addition to listing the bloodline above)]]
- [[Category:(clan faction, if any)]]
- [[Category:(sect)]]*
- [[Category:(sect faction, if any)]]
- [[Category:(region)]]
- [[Category:(domain)]]
- [[Category:(VSS)]]
- [[Category:(territory)]]
- [[Category:(PC group(s), if any)]]
- [[Category:(creature type, if ghoul/revenant/dhampir)]]
- [[Category:(revenant family, if revenant)]]
*Note that ghouls, revenants, and dhampirs are not properly members of any clan or sect
- For Masquerade NPC pages
- General rule: Vampires, ghouls, revenants, and dhampirs are "Masquerade-specific creature types." Any other creature type, including mortals, should have category tags that reflect the fact that those creature types can occur across various chronicles that don't share continuity. So, for instance, a Garou NPC in the Masquerade chronicle would be tagged [[Category:Masquerade NPC Werewolf]] rather than [[Category:Werewolf]] or [[Category:Garou]]. Likewise, it would be a [[Category:Masquerade NPC Silver Fang]] and [[Category:Masquerade NPC Ahroun]]. This prevents NPCs from one chronicle from showing up in the categories of another chronicle and crossing the streams.
- [[Category:Masquerade NPC]]
- [[Category:Masquerade (Local/Regional/National) NPC]]
- [[Category:(region, if any)]]
- [[Category:(domain, if any)]]
- [[Category:(VSS, if any)]]
- [[Category:(territory, if any]]
- [[Category:(creature type, if ghoul/revenant/dhampir)]]
- [[Category:Masquerade NPC (creature type, if other non-vampire)]]
- [[Category:(clan)]]
- If the NPC is a Banu Haqim, Salubri, Coyote, or one of the non-Telyav Tremere Houses: [[Category:(main clan, in addition to listing the bloodline above)]]
- If the NPC isn't a Masquerade-specific creature: [[Category:Masquerade NPC (tribe/breed/kith/revenant family/equivalent)]]
- [[Category:(clan faction, if any)]]
- [[Category:(sect)]]
- If the NPC isn't a Masquerade-specific creature: [[Category:Masquerade NPC (court, mortal organization, or other sect-equivalent)]]
- [[Category:(sect faction, if any)]]
- [[Category:Masquerade NPC (any other relevant categories)]]
- [[Category:(PC group, if any)]]
- For Masquerade PC groups (coteries, gangs, lineages, etc.)
- [[Category:Masquerade (group type)]]
- [[Category:Masquerade PC Group]]
- Do not include sect or clan tags. If desired, you could include [[Category:(clan) Lineage]] or [[Category:Camarilla Coterie]] or the like, but the template doesn't do this since many PC groups don't fit neatly into those categories.
- For Masquerade VSSs
- [[Category:Masquerade VSS]]
- [[Category:(domain)]]
- [[Category:Masquerade (Single-Sect/Contested/etc.) VSS]]
- Do not include the region or any territories.
- For Masquerade Territories
- [[Category:Masquerade Territory]]
- [[Category:(sect/Unaligned/Non-Ascendant) Territory]]
- [[Category:(VSS)]]
- Do not include the region or domain.
- For Domains
- [[Category:Domain]]
- [[Category:(region)]]
- Do not include any VSSs, territories, etc.
- For Masquerade Locations
- There's not currently a form or template for these, but some players have created pages for their locations, which is great.
- [[Category:Masquerade Location]]
- [[Category:(vss)]]
- [[Category:(territory)]]
- Be sure to include a link to the page of the PC who controls the location.
