Description:

Playlist! She is openly Caitiff, but understands why many keep theirs secret. The first thing most kindred notice are her permanent fangs; they don't retract. These nights, she has a mouth full of razor sharp teeth and black abyssal eyes. Mortals who notice often find themselves forgetting about it soon after. She wears a signature wool beret. Wool, cashmere, leather, and fur are commonly found in her attire. Like her lack of distinct clan, she is gender non-conforming. She has a fondness for Malkavians and most Tzimisce, but prioritizes the Caitiff above all. Only her Sire, close friends, and those formerly Sabbat know her true name.

• Calico wants for one thing: SAFETY. Safety for her domain and safety for the Clanless. The Camarilla-led genocide of Caitiff has her deeply fearful of further retaliation. She wants to know where the fuck all the Elders went, but is glad they are gone. Fuck them! But, they might be coming back, or was it punishment by Caine for harming his Chosen. Her remaining in power is essential to her feeling of security as she trusts few to protect the domain with the same attention and fervor. However, her lust for security may be attained at any cost and her enemies, whether real or imagined, may bare the brunt of that passion.
• Calico still struggles with her beast and her humanity. Her time in the Sabbat was critical in her development. It was a family. She had purpose! She misses the Vaulderie and still struggles to remember to call her friends ‘Kindred,’ not ‘Cainite.’ She still slips her tongue speaking of kine, as opposed to calling them ‘humans,’ ‘people,’ or the even ‘mortally-disadvantaged.’ Being surrounded by Free Lasombra has offered her much support, as they do not seem to judge her for her mistakes. They only judge her by her actions.
• Leadership is fickle. People hate you no matter what you do. I stand by my actions and the continued safety of this domain is my sole importance. In 100 years and we have had a single Call to Arms because we have anticipated every threat and contingency. I will act and continue to act as though our future hangs by a thread of hair. I can admit if I am wrong and the guidance of younger Caitiff has been critical to staying the path.

  • 1786 Born Russia
  • 1798 how to work a loom.
  • 1800 Russian Pogroms. Family flees to Dublin, Ireland. Loses community living the diaspora. Annushka continues family business.
  • 1811 Gets a contract to weave a sailcloth. Meets captain. Learns he’s a pirate. falls in love and joins his crew pretending to be a man. Takes on the name Calico for her calico textile clothes. Lives in the crow’s nest aboard *The Rogue Wave.*
  • 1812 Sightings of a vengeful spirit at night. Night look-outs disappear.
  • 1813 Calico takes on shifts for night look-out. A deep impenetrable darkness looms and she can’t see anything. Crew still disappear on her watch. Ship is deemed cursed. Crew quits after contract. We slather a coat of paint and find a new crew.
  • 1815 Captain is found impaled on mast. No one wants the job. Calico is voted Captain by association.
  • 1816 The ship hails a merchant ship and they don’t surrender. Canon fire disables *The Rogue Wave.*

  • 1826 Arrival In New York.
  • 1828 becomes True Sabbat.
  • 1835 walks Path of Caine.
  • 1837 Develops a thirst for innocence. The pure-hearted find themselves in ruin or an early demise. It's their punishment for their naivete. "They should have known better."
  • 1860 becomes disillusioned with the Sword due to treatment of her clan as no power nor loyalty is afforded to her. Shovelheads are churned out and Caitiff are routinely sent to the slaughter as cannon fodder for the Tower.
    • ”Caitiff cannot be groomed for combat in such a short period of time. We are not a cookie-cutter clan. We need more time to develop our disciplines and understand how these abilities may interact with each other. You are sending childer to die on the front lines and we are losing an entire generation of potential! They are not fodder! They must be protected as Caine would have us protected!"
  • 1866 Finally leaves the Sabbat

  • 1867 abandons Path of Caine, low humanity.

  • 1868 Joins Camarilla in NYC.
  • 1869 Abandons the name \'Annushka\' in favor of \'Calico,\' a nod to the linen her family used to trade and how a cat always lands on her feet.
    • NOTE: this is not an Alt. ID. people in the Sabbat will remember her as Annushka. Inner circle of allies might know her name. This was an attempt to distance herself from her own history in the Sabbat.
  • 1870 She masquerades as a Tremere due to her similar disciplines (this would be an alt ID, but that ID is gone now). She studies rituals and Path of Corruption to understand the baser instincts of the vampiric condition and psychologically tortures fledglings in the Tower. (Low humanity.)
  • 1880 Her first witness of a Caitiff slaughter, approved by the Prince.
  • 1881 She speaks with Brujah in the Tower about injustice. (slowly raising humanity)
  • 1885 She slowly convinces others to join her by moving West and starting an Anarch domain.

  • 1886 Arrival in Denver and establishes a successful domain.
  • 1890 Assumes the role of baron. She doesn't feel deserving of the position. She preferred when it was ruled by consensus.
  • 1920 Arrival of the Camarilla and Prince Erlic Montallio. Calico barters for half of Denver for 50 years.
  • 1920-1930 Industrial Workers of the World begin the US labor movement. Anarchs align with Anarchists.
  • 1944 (lore) Second Anarch Rebellion
  • 1947 (lore) Embraces leading to Caitiff childer increases drastically
    

    1976 Denver Praxis Claim
  • 1976 Prince Erlic Montallio is murdered by Azazil during renegotiations. Calico deliberates and issues a Call to Arms to destroy the remainder of Cam leadership, targeting Primogen. The rebellion is successful.
  • 1976 Arrival of the Independent Alliance. Much better partner.
  • 1981 The Camarilla return and operate in a smaller capacity under the protection of an Archon.
  • 1999: (lore) After the appearance of the Red Star, more and more Caitiff begin to surface.
    • Camarilla elders claim that this proliferation of thin-blooded vampires risks the Masquerade and enact draconian measures in an attempt to stem the tide. These measures include the eradication of any unclaimed Caitiff, an action that many elders felt was long overdue.
    • During the Nights of Turmoil, many Caitiff are put to death simply for the “crime” of being clanless. The Justicars permit sweeping dictates of destruction, sanctioning the Sixth Tradition against Caitiff throughout all Camarilla domains. Archons and Princes alike enthusiastically carry out these pogroms. Although the fervor for eradication has cooled following the Beckoning, most Camarilla Caitiff desperately keep their condition a secret, fearing death (or worse) if they should be found out.
    • Calico offers refuge, but cannot intervene with the Tower.
      

      2021 Anarch Coalition Assembly
  • 2000 Calico developed an Intolerance (flaw) for Camarilla Elders.
  • 2010 Calico begins work on the Caitiff/Thinblood Alliance, offering mutual support to the clanless.
  • 2012 Consul Edgar Rains, Elder of Clan Gangrel, Advocate of NOLA, offers Treaty to all Anarch Domains for mutual military support. Calico declines in fear of colluding with an Elder
  • 2020 Caitiff/Thinblood Alliance operates in secret and helps four more members attain the position of Baron. (this is true!)
  • 2021 Calico reconsiders Edgar Rains’ proposal and campaigns for a domain vote. Negotiations deteriorate and the alliance is disbanded.
