We go by many names, but you may call us Rachel. We are a 34-alter DID system. Our brain responded to childhood trauma by splitting into different identity states (known as alters), along with with flashbacks and no end of memory issues. Great, right? Sigh... anyway, as an adult and with therapy, we've finally identified what's been wrong with our brain our whole life, and more or less work together under the leadership of a few important alters: Amber, Courtney and Jaedyn. We've been roleplaying since the late 1990s, when we first joined this club. Feel free to PM us!

Q: What should I call you?

A: We have a few different names. If you're talking about us in the context of Dissociative Identity Disorder, the name of our system is "The System of Shifted Souls". If you're referring to us in a social context, the name Rachel refers to the physical body — current occupants notwithstanding (we are all Spartacus). Lastly, if you know us well enough to have interacted with specific alters, feel free to use their name directly.

Q: You seem to talk to yourself a lot...

A: Ugh, sorry about that. You ever have those moments where you second guess yourself or feel really indecisive about something in the moment? When this happens with us, sometimes it manifests as rapid switches from one alter to another — usually someone has a strong feeling about something and needs to be heard. Other times, a complete switch doesn't occur, but the voices in our head won't shut up about it until we type it out or otherwise communicate wtf it happening. This is made a lot easier on Discord with a bot called PluralKit, which allows us to better visually distinguish ourselves as separate people.

The System Map

Below, you will find a recreation of our entire system, along with notes about each alter. The list is expansive, and we're still developing this page, so please bear with us as we work it out. Click each name to show the alters contained within. This sort of "nesting" of alters is called polyfragmentation, and it has to do with how each alter relates to one another mentally. Generally, the farther apart the alters are, the harder it is so remember things between them. This "subsystem" structure helps us navigate through our own complex and convoluted memory system.
