Bennett is of Croatoan and English descent. Their grand parents were among the Roanoke settlers that abandoned Roanoke to live on Hatteras Island with their friends the Croatoan of the Algonquian tribe. Bennett identifies as gender neutral and leans towards the androgynous in appearance.

Bennett Dare was born on Hatteras island in 1620 a descendant of the Roanoke colonists and the Croatoan people of the Algonquian tribe. They began hearing the voices of the dead as a young child when their sister Wapun was lost to sickness in her thirteenth year. Wapun lingered on long enough to share her goodbyes through her sibling with their family and friends revealing the gift to their family and tribe. They were embraced by the Gangrel in their thirtieth year after suffering a fatal wound during a raid on the settlement village. They drew the interest of their Ahrimane mother due to the spiritual connections of the Croatoan people, and their innate ability to speak with the dead. When later reborn as an Ahrimane they learned to develop their sight further to see the natural spirits of the umbra as well as the spirits of the dead. Bennett is also considered a scholar of the Beast itself and offers services as an agnostic Sin-Eater. They offer counseling and absolution to Kindred who commit acts of violence or atrocities while under the influence of their beast through ritual regardless of their particular path of enlightenment beliefs or morality.
