Further Information
Grania was born in NJ to your basic Irish American suburban parents. Her father genuinely believed he was descended from THE Grace O'Malley, and this obviously had a large effect on his daughter. Grania was always entranced by the sea, and she learned to sail at an early age; she seemingly knew how to swim as soon as she hit the water. But she always felt a little apart from other kids. Her interests never quite aligned with theirs. She never felt as comfortable on land as she did upon the sea. At clan gatherings that her parents dragged her to, this was proof she was a "true" O'Malley (Terra Marique Potens: Powerful on land and sea).
One day she noticed this sweet old lady in her neighborhood. She told the most interesting stories and had the best cookies Grania had ever tasted. Normally Grania would never just go off with a stranger but there was something so very comforting about this woman, who said to call her Grandmother. Grania never felt as at home with anyone else. And it was Grandmother who saw her through her Chrysalis. The above memories are all that Grania can remember of her previous life.
Since then, she has moved to New York, where she met her Pisksie, Ripley. It was strange to her to know exactly where her soul went, but also a comfort to her. She earned herself a barony, though it is currently full of ghosts, so that will need to be fixed before she can be a landed baron. To earn actual money and gather glamour, she gives pirate experience cruises, re-creating the pirate experience for those who wish it aboard her ship, the Kelpie. The trip can take people from Canada to North Carolina, depending on what they wish and how much they pay. There are stories of pirates, perhaps some swordplay, and always songs, for her Kinain are as adept with music as they are with their shipboard duties. Every so often Rowan Raith will take on first mate duties.
Lately Grania has been working with Baron Klaus of Turtle Bay. It is a good place to be, an island surrounded by much water. And it is a place where her skills are helpful.
- "The Barony of Turtle Bay would like to officially state that we do not condone piracy on the high seas, nor do we provide support to Kithain engaged in this despicable trade. Privateers, though, are a completely separate matter." - Klaus von Teutoburg, Tyrant of Turtle Bay.
- "Work with her to your profit. Oppose her to your regret. Underestimate her at your peril." - Edwin Devonshire , Baron of Long Island
