Description

Oppa is an old, French, snarky bâtard. He enjoys attending gatherings and sitting in the corner with his Angels, watching the crowds of vampires.

He is usually well dressed in more modern fashion with flairs of French aristocracy.

  • 20 – Born
  • 55 CE - Marcus Antonius Primus (born between 20 AD and 35 AD[1] – died after 81 AD) was a senator and general of the Roman Empire. Grandson or great-grandson to Marcus Antony.
  • Waved to Primus during one of his Tours of Gaul.
  • 60 – Embraced
  • ~200 CE - Oppa visits the Library of Alexandria. Some documents might have left with him.
  • 286/7 CE - In 286/7 Carausius commander of the Classis Britannica, the fleet of the English Channel, declared himself Emperor of Britain and northern Gaul. His forces comprised his fleet, the three legions stationed in Britain and also a legion he had seized in Gaul, a number of foreign auxiliary units, a levy of Gaulish merchant ships, and barbarian mercenaries attracted by the prospect of booty.
  • Attended the gala the night Carausius declared himself Emperor. Ah, besotted drinkers of mead always taste like clover honey!
  • 509 to 751 CE - watched the rise and fall of the Merovingian line of kings. First Frankish kings that did not say they were a gift from God.
  • 813 CE - Aachen, Germany - witnessed the coronation of Louis the Pious, son of Charlemagne.
  • 871 CE - Ashdown, England - Observed the first Battle Æthelred wins against the Danish Viking army that had been raiding West Saxony.
  • 911 CE - Rollo the Granger and Vikings settle in France as Normans. Oppa befriends Rollo’s Quartermaster and keeps wind of court affairs.
  • ~1000 CE - Iceland's parliament, the althing, passes a resolution that everyone on the island is to be baptized. Oppa leaves Iceland!
  • 1307, October 13 - Using the name “Gosso”, Oppa helped the French Templars hide their wealth before the King could confiscate it.
  • 1307 – Meets Adrian Nicolai (Adam Tomplait), henceforth known as “The Chronicler” by Oppa. They have several discussions at Mont St Michele.
  • 1345 - Meets Petrarch in Verona Cathedral. Oppa uses the name “Alfano”. After a few discussions, Oppa deems Petrarch worthy and gives Petrarch some of Cicero’s letters from the Library of Alexandria, which Petrarch publishes. Most scholars attribute the letters and their publication, along with Petrarch’s own works, to the start of the Renaissance. Oppa advises Petrarch to say he found them in the ancient libraries, rather than mention him.
  • 1472 - c.1482 - Stole into Leonardo da Vinci’s studio to watch his early works progress.
  • 1490 - Michelangelo is studying/working at the Platonic Academy, created by the Medici family.

  • 1504, October - Follows Raphael’s works in and around Florence. Uses the name “Agnolo”.

  • 1564 - Michelangelo Dies. Oppa travels to the Basilica of the Holy Cross in Florence to view the interment of the great Maestro.
  • 1631 – Palace at Versaille begins construction
  • 1664 – First edition of “Paradise Lost” is published. Oppa weeps. Oppa has his people begin buying any work of John Milton they can.
  • 1682 – King Louis XIV moves French court to Versailles
  • 1706 – French Suffer Defeat on the Battlefield - The French suffered a series of defeats on the battlefield. The first at the battle of Ramillies on May 23rd, forced the French to withdraw from the cities of Belgium. The second when the British raize the siege of Barcelona also on May 23rd. The third occured when a French army was defeated at Turin, thus forcing their withdrawal from Italy. Oppa moves to the area around Versailles.
  • 1763 - Treaty of Paris. The Treaty of Paris was signed bringing to an end the French and Indian War in North America and the Seven Years War in Europe, Asia and Africa. Under the terms of the treaty France retained Guadeloupe and Martinique. France ceded all of what is today Canada to Great Britain and ceded Louisiana territory to Spain. Spain regained the Phillipines and Cuba. France was allowed to maintain a trading post in Bengal India, but was not allowed to fortify it. Oppa begins making plans to travel to this New World.
  • 1821, May 5 - Napoleon dies.
  • 1840, December 15 - State funeral for Napolean. Oppa visits and pays his respects to the former Emperor at the cupola in St Jérôme's Chapel.
  • 1880 – Sails to the New World via the port of New Orleans. Travels up the Mississippi River, up the Arkansas River to settle in Russellville, Arkansas. A nice, quiet, out of the way spot in the middle of what is to become the United States of America.
  • 1954 – Contacted by Raziel (Trish Rasmusson, US2019010062). She begins working contracts and such for Oppa.

Bio

Oppa has been around Europe for centuries. He has managed to not get caught in either Inquisition. He has had to change his name a few times, as some of his exploits got too much attention.
