Cedar Ayleward is a newly-embraced Toreador, and now ward of Clan Ventrue and adoptive childe of Danika "Dani" Astor. He has a nervous and gentle disposition, and makes a living ghostwriting for politically powerful Kindred. He lived quietly and comfortably with his sphinx cat Khons in a small apartment in Midwood, Brooklyn, before moving to Manhattan to live with his pseudo-sire in one of their apartment buildings. He is often anxious around his friends, feeds, and clientele, as his Sire used to facilitate communication and he isn't quite used to Kindred company just yet. He can be overly trusting and really doesn’t want to hurt anyone, and he often assumes others have similar intentions. He knows near to nothing about the Kindred world, but he’s ready to learn.
- Cedar Ayleward is born on Oct 1st, 2000, in Brooklyn, New York as Julia Ayleward.
- He comes out as transgender, changes his name to Cedar, and begins his medical transition.
- He graduates with a Masters degree in creative writing and moves to Midwood, Brooklyn.
- He meets Vincent St. Claire, a Kindred art dealer, who offers him a more long-time stretch of employment writing descriptions of art pieces and small articles on artists for his business.
- Vincent offers him a small promotion, telling Cedar he has some high political connections and asks if Cedar will ghost write for them. Cedar accepts.
- Vincent, realizing the good work Cedar could do if he knows the Kindred world, breaks the Masquerade. Cedar takes this revelation and throws himself into his work to distract himself from the newfound fear he feels toward the world.
- On Dec. 10th, 2023, after more outstanding work, Vincent approaches Cedar with another promotion, inviting him to come to his office in the middle of the night. When Cedar arrives, Vincent congratulates him and offers him a better position with far better pay. Cedar accepts and is immediately Embraced.
- On Dec. 11th, 2023, Cedar attempts to contact his sire and is unsuccessful. Vincent has disappeared and Cedar is now alone.
- On Dec. 14th, 2023, Cedar wanders outside to try and find Vincent at his office, whom he has not been able to contact since being embraced. At some point on his way home after finding his office empty, he is spotted by Danika "Dani" Astor. Both parties realize what the other is, and Cedar runs while the stranger gives chase. After the stranger catches up to Cedar, she realizes that Cedar is brand-new, an illegal Embrace, and has no idea what is going on. Danika "Dani" Astor slows down, introduces herself, and offers to help Cedar.
