Whispering Hopes
“We down on the Bayou. This ain’t no True Blood shit here.” -Swamp Nos Bob
Baton Rouge Proper, seat of Louisiana’s government power and one of the Oldest Cities, and a long standing home of Vampires…… until recently. There has always been a strong vampire presence throughout its history. The heart of Baton Rouge has been a robust Camarilla Stronghold with an uneasy, but necessary treaty with the Elderly Independent Alliance, even before they formed officially. That is until The Beckoning. The Independent Alliance all but vanished overnight. The Tower noticeably quaked at the loss of its stable base pillars. The Second Inquisition, in the form of local hunter groups, eradicated most of the young who were reckless to cover their tracks…..
Where once there were large numbers of vampires that called the Red Stick home, now they are but a dwindling few. Whispered hopes of the Sects establishing there footing again. Who shall rise with the tide of the Mighty Mississippi?

- 1900s: The Anarch Railroad starts using routes around the area.
- 1920s: The Brujah and Giovanni combine efforts to further the career of Huey P Long, with hopes to get him into office. This was done largely to ruin the Ventrue empire that was creeping up on the city. This was successful, and the Ventrue were upset when Long was put into office in 1928, as their business endeavors were heavily threatened.
- 1935: Huey P Long assassinated; the Ventrue are blamed by the Brujah, this results in a small war of the clans. The Giovanni snicker in the corner. No one’s sure who *actually* had him killed.
- 1937: The Brujah win their war with the Ventrue, though little blood is shed on either side. A new Prince takes over, Ethan Krieger (Brujah), and reigns until the turn of the century.
- 1939: Swamp Nosferatu warns the Camarilla of danger on the West Bank. Krieger dismisses them and continues to hold his parties with no concern.

- 1948: Sabbat began their siege of Baton Rouge. The 1st Salvo - killing Prince Krieger during a Salon held to promote local Toreador artists, leaving the decapitated Prince there for all to see. Venture Damien Maxamillion Esquire claims Praxis and secured the Ventrue power, handily oppressing the non-Pillar clans, especially the Setites.
- 1952: The Camarilla led a strike against the Sabbat on the West Bank, destroying Belle Grove Plantation stronghold.
- 1953 - 1980: Maxamillion as Prince continues to oppress non-Pillar clans, leading to more restrictions.
- 1980s: The Giovanni are quietly taking small steps and actions to overthrow the Camarilla. Some court members are suspicious, and this leads to a cold war between Clan Giovanni, the non-pillar clans and the Camarilla Pillar presence in town.
- 1985: A small group of Anarchs move into the area, which turns into Maxamillion’s new target for oppression, treating the Anarchs as a whole like Caitiff.
- 2000: Elders Laura Marquette and Phil Easton on Clan Brujah arrive on New Year’s at the stroke of Y2K. Within a few months, the Fledgling Elder Marquette took a vice-like grip on the city, with her Sire, Easton, serving as her Sheriff.
- 2003: The Anarch relations with the Camarilla become more stable.
- 2004: The Giovanni coterie of morgue owners joined with the New Age shop owners of the Ministry formed a close coterie, the backbone of what will be the Independent Alliance in Baton Rouge.
- 2005: Hurricane Katrina hits New Orleans and Baton Rouge, causing a max influx of mortals and kindred alike to flee to BR. Some strife rings out, but things settle relativity quickly before the end of the year

- 2013 - Wildlife and Fisheries declare the war on the “Nutria Rat Menace” won, but warns this menace can return.
- 2015 - In the wake of the success of Swamp People, several ads ran in the Baton Rouge Morning Advocate warning the public to stay out of “There Swamp.”
