William Ethan Masterson

- "Willie" Masterson is from Russellville, Arkansas in 1845, from the River Valley region, coming from a middle-class family who was in law enforcement.
A (very lucky) survivor of the US Civil War, he fought for the South at first out of a sense of duty but became quickly disillusioned with the war when he saw the conditions the slaves were kept in, a moral affront to his sense of justice and the fact that he was nothing more than a pawn for the rich white man and his property. He turned traitor to the South and defected to the Union forces once they came into Arkansas, giving the Union forces valuable intelligence bringing the war to a quicker end. Once the war was over and his loyalty oath completed, he then moved west thanks to the open plains and its very cheap land rates. He fell in rather quickly escorting wagon trains making their way west, and he eventually fell in quickly with the Gambling halls and Saloons in the Nevada boomtowns.
Eventually, by 1870, he settled in Northern Nevada, a roving bounty hunter and gunfighter of middling ability. While on an assignment around Austin, Nevada he ran afoul of a roving Sabbat pack who had ghouled a local crime gang known as the Barlow gang. Displaying Willies rather copious amounts of gun skills and putting several sabbat shovelheads into torpor before being run down by them, they eventually get the better of William and he is mortally wounded. That would have been the end of Willie, but a Toreador elder (sire still pending), who employed William from time to time as a bouncer for his Saloon, heard the gunshots and came running.
William was repaired as best his sire could, but he lost too much blood. Williams last words as a mortal were \"help me get the bastards\" in a state of shock and the Elder Toreador embraced William to save his life. In return, the two rode off on a vendetta ride and cleared out the Barlow gang, discovering the ties to the Sabbat pack that controlled them.
Since then, William has been a roving enforcer and bounty hunter. He spent some time in torpor from the 60s to the 2000s, only recently awakening within the last 2 years. He has reoriented himself with the modern-day and not caring much for the local inhabitants of Las Vegas (the IA), decided to come back to the Arkansas River Valley, seeing what has changed.
William Ethan \"Willie\" Masterson timeline: 1842: Born in the area that would become Russellville, Arkansas. 1845-1860: Father served as deputy Sherrif in the Russellville area. Began learning firearms, riding, and scouting abilities. 1860-1862: Served as a cavalry scout for the CSA during the US civil war. 1862: Surrenders and defects to the Union forces. 1863-1865: Rides with the Union as cavalry NCO and scout. 1869: has by now relocated to Nevada, taking work as a Deputy Sherrif. 1871: moved to and settled down in boomtown Austin, NV; his first child is born in late 1872. 1872: Has begun to work with his Sire, not knowing his true nature as a Toreador Elder. 1873: Runs afoul of a criminal gang while on duty. This one is fronted by a Sabbat pack, however. 1873: The Sabbat-led criminal gang hunts down and kills William\'s family, severely wounding William. 1873: Is embraced and healed by to save his life and afterward hunts down his family\'s killers. 1876-1920\'s: Lives in Austin, Nevada for some time. Works as a roving troubleshooter bounty hunter and gunfighter. 1920: Moves to Las Vegas, watching it grow. Once gambling is legalized citywide, William works to keep the peace. 1931: Hoover Dam begins construction. William provides nighttime security (and some herd) off and on as needed. 1968: Goes into Topor sometime in the late 1960s. 2019: Reawakens from Torpor and reorients himself to the new age. 2020: Not liking this \"Independent Alliance\" thing, he relocates back home to Little Rock, Arkansas.
