Character Timeline 1920 – Annika is born in St. Petersburg to a poor, abusive family.

1930 - She flees home at 10 and begins to operate in the Thieves’ World as a pickpocket and sneak thief.

1941-1944 – The German and Finnish armies converge on St. Petersburg, now called Leningrad; already used to doing whatever it took to survive, Annika and her compatriots stuck together to survive the genocidal nightmare of German occupation – what had been a criminal cell now became a civilian group of partisans, but through the starving winter of 1942 they reverted back to banditry when there was nothing left that could be scrounged from the land, killing former rivals for their ration cards when supplies along the Ice Road grew too thin for all to survive on.

1948 – Tested by wartime and now an accomplished cat burglar, Annika is trapped and Embraced by Ivan Khodorovsky, a Ravnos Elder seeking soldiers for a pack. She meets Thomas Severus, the Lasombra ductus, as well as the others and is eventually Initiated as True Sabbat after a brutal, degrading period as False Sabbat learning the ropes of unlife.

1953 – Severus brings back Alexi Krolik, who she remembers from the St. Petersburg underworld, as a new Embrace. Kat assists Severus in teaching Alexi the ropes and soon he is also given the Creation Rites. The pack leaves Russia to travel Europe; Ivan remains to build support among the Russian clergy of archbishops and cardinals, seeking greater political support to gain a seat on the Priscus Council.

1957 – During a battle against a rival faction in the Third Civil War, Severus and several other members of the pack are destroyed. Annika and Alexi decide to travel to America in search of better prospects and arrive in NYC. Alexi Americanizes his name to Alex Krowe and forms the Tenebrous Legio pack.

1999 – After decades, NYC falls to the Camarilla and Tenebrous Legio retreats to nearby Newark, NJ to plan a counter-offensive. When a few years pass and no other Sabbat come to their aid, the rest of Tenebrous Legio drift away. The Week of Nightmares is terrifying but also somehow distant; with no other Ravnos within a hundred miles of her, Kat is pulled northward by the siren song of blood but the Week passes before she finds another of her kind to lay waste to and diablerize.

2003 – Alex and Annika take part in the crusade for Philadelphia and help gain control of the city. Alex is named Bishop of War while Annika keeps most of her doings secret and never seeks positions. Half-abandoned by the Sabbat to begin with, they remain faithful in principle but distant in fact; it should come as no surprise that when the Jackal called all Sabbat to Mexico City to depart on a grand Crusade, Tenebrous Legio did not answer the summons.

2013-2023 – The collapse of the Sabbat coincides with the taking of Philadelphia by the Independent Alliance. The pack is formally no more – the sect is formally no more – and with this transition in their lives, Annika sheds the identity her sire chose for her and chooses a new name: Kat. Kat and Alex spend much of the next decade wandering around America, building something new for themselves first without any sect and then within it after their two clans join as signatories. Their former Sabbat identities left behind if not necessarily forgotten, they return to Philadelphia as new members of the Alliance and join the city’s burgeoning power structures.

Born into a life of poverty in St. Petersburg, Russia, Annika learned to steal what she needed to survive and became part of Thieves’ World. During a supposedly routine burglary gone wrong, an Elder Ravnos chose her for the Embrace and initiated her into the Sabbat. Today both Annika the Sabbat is no more; she goes by Kat now that she has remade herself, and she and her former Ductus plan to rebuild their power anew inside the Independent Alliance.
