Name Genesis

Age 24

Seeming Elemental

Kith Metal flesh

Court East Court

Personality: Do you like to play with fire? He's witty, cunning, playful on one hand, and can flip the switch and be deadly serious when threats arise that need tactical planning and execution done. He's definitely an enabler able to read a room, if need be, to inspire creativity or spark new debate. Genesis can be incredibly loving and affectionate placing his lovers on a throne of worship to be spoiled. At best he's the embodiment of East Court's Envy with a dash of Spring.

Quirks: Known to spoil people, enjoys gambling, drinking, and partners vary pending on attraction or whim. It's not uncommon to find him slipping behind bars at a good party to help out staff or just inquire if he can spice up the night with his mixology skills.

Notable Traits:

  • Long white hair usually pulled back into a long ponytail that seems to shimmer as if molten silver trailing in his wake.
  • Outfits vary from Oriental design fancy jackets to long robes to leather vests and jackets pending his whim. Accents tend to depict some aspect of flowers or brocade designs.

History

  • Birth Name: Gerald Sterling.
  • Social Class: British elite trading family living in Hong Kong.
  • Education consisted of private tutors of business, religion, and the arts with hopes he would settle into taking over the family trading company. Instead, the boy found himself drawn into the dazzling world of Jewelry and Textile trade both legal and illegal within the market districts.

  • Career: Money can make dreams come true if slipped into the right ears and hands of a bustling market. He found himself placing money into the hands of those able to teach him how to cut, design, silver smith and detect fraud in jewels and jewelry as a whole. Some well-placed investments gained him assess to supplies needed to begin designing his own jewelry and open a small business within the market as well as online. In order to ensure his activity wasn't found out by his family, he adopted the name of "Genesis" to use for his business in the event something would take a turn for the worse and not end up risking his family's name nor the inheritance.

  • Money: The world of the elite opens doors to many possibilities to line one's pocket. The right word whispered in the ear at a party, the flash of jewelry shown that makes another jealous wanting their own special piece to impress their friends, the fashion model who wants the accent piece to go with their outfit to showcase their runway walk, it was all too easy at times. He began to travel to jewelry expos around the world showcasing his designs, taking contracts with various individuals from private collectors to even making contact with museums interested in restoration piece work or ensuring their collections didn't have fraudulent display pieces.

  • Lifestyle: World travel, high society social events, private parties, and enjoying the various arts became a common theme for him. It wasn't uncommon to find him at underground parties indulging in drugs, sexual encounters, or behind a bar learning how to mix up drinks that were considered works of art to be consumed.

  • Crash and Burn: Life is good until the party ends. Especially when one doesn't expect to have crashers looking to take the party to a different realm. No one tends to hear or notice people who go missing at underground parties. Dark areas, loud music, hazy air of drugs being used, all too convenient covers for a band of privateers to use. No one misses the person assumed to be off in a dark hallway getting lucky, maybe they needed the restroom, fresh air, or left the party. The music blazing on till dawn and the party continues on while those chosen few realize this very well may be their last memory of this world.

  • No one expects to find out that fairy tales are indeed far more grim and far darker than any childhood story or fable spoke about the Fae. There isn't fairies dancing around toad stool rings, no shining high elves from Tolkien, nor will anyone save you. If you are lucky maybe the Keeper who looks like they are sizing up a meal won't look too closely in the cage you find yourself crammed within in a market that makes the meat markets look clean. A market deep in the hedge with only enough light to see shadows of forms walking past to peer into cages of humans freshly caught and some don't even bother to look simply pointing at cages to be taken away into the depths of the hedge never to be seen again.

  • What now becomes a story of a hell that not even Steven King could begin to understand. No doll is creepy anymore, no slasher movie inspires the fear to be unable to sleep at night. Instead, one learns that true fear is being told you are no longer human. It is here where I found myself left with only my created name to cling to as my last memory of earth as everything else fell away into the madness of the hedge. I found myself being dragged forward before a Keeper that was half man, half dragon with one of the privateers standing at his side telling him what I could possibly do for him. The horror of this being knowing enough about me without realizing I was ever in any danger to begin with was unsettling. Worse was watching him peer down at me as if nothing more than an insect that caught his eye to be waved off as the next person dragged forward with the last words hearing, "Take him to the metal smith."
  • Metal Smith: Human bodies were never meant to be survive the agony those of us locked within the forge room underwent. Screams that died into soft whimpers and moans of pain as the Metal Smith took each of us to fashion into forms that would please our Keeper and enhance what talents we may have once had as humans and grant new abilities we didn't understand. All we knew was the last glints of seeing our human forms stripped or molded into new caught within the flash of metal about the room and worse for those who looked up, a ceiling of mirrors reflecting back what was no longer human. I was perhaps one of the lucky ones. Left mostly human but metal and jewels infused into my flesh. My back molded into wings of a dragon, marking me as my Keeper's pet and part of his treasure trove of keepsakes to toil at his whim.
  • Time has no meaning in the hedge. No clocks, no seasons, light and dark twisting at the whim of a Keeper or the hedge itself. All I knew to keep passing of time was food came, things we were given for tools or an array of items to shape to be judged. Some people remained, others vanished either displeasing the Keeper or maybe sold to another. All I knew was I had to stay alive, find a way out of this hell, and maybe escape back home. After a time, I realized we had a series of guards and other changelings loyal to the Keeper who believed we were far too stupid to pay attention to them talking or paying attention to their patterns. It was perhaps the one saving grace of being familiar with the markets of Hong Kong that saved me here. Anything could be valuable if one found the proper use or ear to bend. That moment came finding bags of loot stolen from another Keeper spilling into the vault room and having several of the pets sort it. I found two tokens that quickly found their way into the folds of my clothing. A small arrowhead and a musty looking old blade. It now became a waiting game of opportunity to escape.

Escape

  • Keepers don't expect their pets to be willing to take risks. Afterall, we are nothing more than trinkets to be seen or used pending their whim. This is especially true at parties where they take great pleasure in trying to impress one another or gain favor. It was one of these parties I was taken to with the purpose to show off my jewelry skill in the hopes to put an old bet to rest it seems on who had a better pet. In the midst of their bickering and recalling those who passed on before my time, I slipped away to find a room with a mirror that shimmered. Upon touching it, I found it ripple and reveal a green forest that looked like trees from earth. My heart swelled, a backwards glance over my shoulder to make sure I wasn't seen, and then the jump into freedom.
  • Freedom always comes with a price. One I found out very quickly that my expectation of returning home wasn't going to be a reality. Instead, I found myself in a whole new world. Standing on a path that I was fortunate enough to be found by the Riders as part of their patrol area. I didn't care at the moment there was this huge panther with waving appendages. All I cared was the Rider wasn't a Fae or another Changeling that perhaps I found at least some semblance of humanity once more. I was taken back to the Freehold and spent time being instructed I was free and yet the world I remembered had fallen in a great war.

Life of adaptation within the East Court

  • The Freehold was a blessing I never expected to encounter. A whirlwind of other Changelings of all types and Courts embracing their freedom and rebuilding their lives. It was here that I met my mentor for the East Court and who helped put me on the path of building a life in this new world.
  • Some things never change and that first lesson was money will always be a part of any society along with trade. I was taught how to invest, how to understand the markets of the various cities, and the importance of joining a Guild. I found myself drawn to the Crystal Guild and applied for membership as an apprentice until a time came where I was permitted to open my own stall within the markets.
  • I chose to move to New Angeles. The area I was told to be one of the wealthier regions with a flourishing market and trade of various commodities. I didn't care that the area was the domain of the Kindred. Their laws made sense, the population well regarded, and coin was plentiful if one knew how to make it. I arranged for a license to sell in their market setting up a small stall big enough to support a hollow and a workshop to tend to my craft. The Mountainside quarter was comfortable enough to arrange for an apartment living space as well as provide a sense of community I missed from Hong Kong.
  • Glamour Harvesting: Glamour of Envy can be the sweetest of flavors pending how one chooses to partake. The market is always a good choice as opportunity presents itself simply by watching the masses and who may be a possible source. Sometimes you just need to stir the pot with a few well-placed words walking up next to an individual to comment on the item desired. Sometimes a few coins just may fall into a pocket if I'm feeling charitable enough to release my coin into the world to invest in perhaps a future contact or perhaps our Court's good luck custom of releasing marked coins will find its way back into my pocket. Either way, I do love to gamble.
