Timeline

  • 3rd cen BCE - Early Paris is Founded by a group (or herd) of Nomadic Celts and their Gangrel Protectors.
  • 52 BCE - A group of Romans conquer early Paris under orders from their Ventrue masters.
  • 845 - The Gangrel try to retake Paris from the Ventrue by assisting a group of Vikings. Though they have had some minor successes they ultimately fail.
  • 1101 - As early as the 12th century, the Feast of Fools allowed vampires to use their disciplines in public under the guise of Magic.
  • 1260 - A coterie of powerful local vampires starts and funds the creation of Notre Dame. It becomes one of the highest regarded Elysium in Paris, only to be used for the most important events.
  • 1307 - The local ruling Vampires influence King Philip IV's court to have the leaders of the Knights Templar arrested and burned to scare off others and hinder any Hunters in the area.
  • 1348 - The Bubonic Plague kills around 1/3 of the inhabitants of Paris, greatly limiting their herds and making the vampires even more paranoid about hunters.
  • 1432 - While only rumored it is said that Joan of Arc was an inquisitor and gained too much favor with the populace. An unknown but powerful Coterie had her tried and convicted of heresy.
  • 1514 - Many years after the Anarch Revolt ends a group still active in Paris works with the Sorbonne to create a list of forbidden books. The Camarilla in Paris is quick to stomp out any versions with lists of books related to heretical concepts like Lilith and the Book of Nod.
  • 1641 - The First permanent Theater in Paris opens, Palais-Royal. It quickly becomes an Elysium and gem in the Parisian Camarilla's proverbial crown.
  • 1763 - The Palais-Royal burns. Many vampires die in the flames or fighting the Hunters who were waiting for them outside, including the Harpy and Scourge.
  • 1783-1789 - After almost two decades of being only the occasional Scourge in charge, Nox rises to the rank of Scourge.
  • 1782 - Claude de Bourbon takes the position of Harpy of Paris after its vacancy due to his reputation alone. Claude is present in the decade or two prior to the French Revolution in Paris and Versailles. The Harpy was seen fleeing in a Carriage the same night that Versailles falls.
  • 1789 - Storming of the bastille. Sensing the underlying unrest of the lower classes of the mortal populace, the Sabbat began a whisper campaign directed at the small rabble of Anarchs hiding in the shadows of the city. The Anarchs, under the whispered 'direction' of the Sabbat, began to flame the fires of revolution amongst the mortals that ultimately led to the storming of the Bastille. While it did not overthrow the Camarilla like both the Anarchs and ultimately the Sabbat had hoped, it did strike a blow to the ruling classes, both mortal and Vampire, which could be felt for many years.
  • 1870-1914 - Beautiful Era - Clan Toreador takes major control of Paris during this time and invites artists and occultists from all around the world to take up residence.
  • 1875 - May 31st - Alphonse Louis Constant supposedly dies.
  • 1945 - WW2 - Vampires of Paris flee or hide during the invasion. Clan Nosferatu, in a show of great wisdom and charity, allows many to hide out the war in their territories underground.
  • 1952 - The Carnival de Paris was stopped - Due to a number of incredibly fragrant and masquerade-breaking displays of vampiric powers during this years Carnival, more Hunters were attracted to the area. A new Courtesy was added: Any ability that could be construed by mortals as mystical or magical in nature, by members of the Camarilla or not, was to be used away from the eyes of mortals or be harshly punished without due process. It gained the nickname: The Carn-Evil Courtesy.
  • 1955 - A subtle fight turns overt and a Son of Discord and Daughter of Cacophony both meet final death. A shaky truce ends up observed between the groups in which they agree to keep their separate ways and avoid conflict. They also agree to avoid embracing across gender lines.
  • 1965 - Twinned city to Rome - Only Paris is worthy of Rome; only Rome is worthy of Paris - Going against the Camarilla status quo at the time, the Camarilla in Paris reaches out to Vampires in Rome for a Pact of Mutual Protection and to establish ties with the Italian merchants at that time.
  • 1977 - The Centre Pompidou is opened. In no small part to a minor alliance between multiple clans ranging sects.
  • 1997 - After many years, and many boons exchanged, the Carnival de Paris is restarted and the Carn-Evil Courtesy is amended to include: except during major celebrations such as the Feast of Fools and the Carnival de Paris. Private and public celebrations are rampant.
  • 2008 - A gathering of Sons & Daughters celebrate in Paris, the coming together of their clan. The Choir of Eris officially becomes the name of the bloodline. Individuals are referred to as Scions. The bloodline gathers in large numbers all across the globe to celebrate this unity, most often in famous musical meccas including Memphis, New Orleans, Berlin, London, Havana, and even at the Coachella Festival. While lots of newer clan members are present many older Scions are seen too.
  • 2014 - The Sundering. - The Society of Leopold launches a globally orchestrated attack on the Founding Temples; they are not destroyed but are taken under mortal government control. Investigations by the Ministry into taking them back have been met with extreme resistance. Many of the clans question how hunters could have known so much about so many locations. The only conclusion is that someone or something leaked the information.

    • The remaining Camarilla call for aid from previous contacts, now in the IA, to fortify their defenses in Paris against Hunters. Many thaumaturgy users, who at one point or another spent some time learning in Paris, come to assist.
  • 2020 - Members of the Independent Alliance and Anarch Movement secure their locations and assist in the defense of Paris against Mortal hunters.
  • 2022 - Paris is now a city divided. Though once a strong Camarilla domain, the Independent Alliance and Anarch Movement have both managed to cement their hold on parts of Paris, and through Prestation owed to them for their assistance against the Hunter threat they forced the Camarilla to formally cede territory to them.
