Further Information
Mina Burana was born around the year 1300 in a town in Ireland that no longer exists. Her mortal life was good for the time. Though a girl, and Irish, she knew freedoms many did not—she was often told she was a special child, and she believed it with her whole heart. After all, she saw ghosts. She saw faeries. She knew other things existed as well. So it came as no surprise to her when she happened to run across some vampires. She was in her twenties and by that time nothing was a surprise to her. (Or so she thought.) She found herself of interest to these kindred and they were certainly of interest to her. And so she was ghouled.
It was during her time as a ghoul she met another ghoul, now known as Old rick. He was always very studious, serious, the perfect foil for Mina’s mischievousness. They have been fast friends ever since, causing some stir among the clans, given that Old Rick is a Nosferatu. But Mina has never been the most traditional Toreador. And true friends are hard to find among the Kindred.
She was embraced in 1390. Her sire was a charming minor noble, a Welshman, a Toreador of course (NPC). He was enchanted by Mina, by her stories of the Irish supernatural, by how much life she had in her. For Mina’s part, well, she was just enchanted by him, no use of powers needed. Yet their relationship proved turbulent. They would part and join countless times over the centuries. She does not know if he lives.
Mina traveled Europe for centuries. During that time she embraced her first childe (NPC). Who also had a childe, one Zale Dracos, a blacksmith. She traveled to the New World, excited by the idea of a barely explored country; outraged by the idea that it was called “new.” She had always been forward thing—nearly a heretic in many instances. She often knew when to keep her mouth shut, but when she could not, when she became angry, it could be terrifying. She is known to be very much in favor of ghouls’ rights, refusing to think of them as property. She will argue this will virtually anyone, no matter the Camarilla stance.
And so Mina made her way to the Colonies. Then in this little town in this place she found her dear friend Old Rick! She still wasn’t one to settle down and traveled the Colonies. (“Down with the English!” She never did grow any fonder of them or their empire.) Later, she traveled the various states. She embraced another childe, this one a much better choice, the sculptor Michael De Luca. And eventually she settled down in Princeton, NJ. She has developed some fame in archaeology, which is what her art turned out to be. She uses a different name as her archaeologist self: Maeve O’Neill.
