As a child, Kai was known for his warmth and kindness. However, years of harsh discipline and withheld affection changed him, shifting his attitude toward survival. He never lost the instinct to protect others, though, and it became a defining factor in his personality.
Kai's father was prideful and no matter what hardships the family faced, Kai was taught to never ask for help, never admit need. Instead, his father demanded success based solely on individual effort and hard work. No matter the task, Kai strived for perfection, hoping one day to earn his father's respect. Nothing was ever good enough though, despite his best efforts. Taught never to accept help, Kai internalized every failure. Each defeat, therefore, was accompanied by endless analysis, study, practice - all in an effort to never make the same mistakes twice.
Kai is an observer and watches everyone around him, always preparing for the worst outcome of any situation. Like his sister, Kennedy Robinson, he values trust and authenticity, though he tends to be more blunt than she. Socializing, he likes being direct and tries to avoid small talk. When small talk is being engaged, he struggles to find words to converse. Consequently, he doesn’t have a particular knack for politics, though with Kennedy's help he has managed. When others see Kai, his expression is always neutral, a stone wall expression carefully constructed to keep others out. Very few times does he let out expressions that would show his true feelings…unless it came to his sister.
Kai is a lover who puts all his heart to the things he cares about. But by doing so, is easily torn and can spiral when his heart is broken. It is no surprise, then, that his world was upended after he lost his sire and lover to the beckoning. Summoning the pride he learned as a child, Kai built walls around himself, determined not to show the world how much he is hurting. He threw himself into his work, hoping to escape the suffocating loss for just a moment...not realizing that the hurt that beckons him to grieve. And so he remains in agony, unable to face the pain he has locked away.
These nights, Kai has shut out almost everyone but his sister. Behind closed doors, she is the only person that sees the hurt that he carries. She is the one person Kai can open up to, the only one with who he can trust with his feelings, the one constant in his life. And so he holds steadfast to a promise he made long ago - that he'd always protect her.
1791: Kai Robinson was born in Belfast
1806: Moved to NY, USA with mortal family
1817: Embraced by Magnus. Sister, Kennedy, also embraced earlier that year by Magnus's sire, John Drystan.
1864: Moved from NY to Boston

2017: Kai lost his sire to the Beckoning. Kai was heartbroken.
2022: Moved from Boston to Los Angeles.
Born in Belfast, Kai and his younger sister Kennedy Robinson immigrated to New York City in 1806. Life was hard, but together they found their way. The way to survive was to keep moving and to not let anyone know you were struggling. That was the Robinson way. Regardless of how tough life through at the Robinsons, Kai and Kennedy had each others back…always and forever. That was their motto between each other. When they both turned in 1817, they vowed they always have each others back no matter what.
For a while there were four of them: John Drystan (Kennedy’s sire), Magnus (Drystan’s eldest Childe and Kai’s Sire), Kai and Kennedy (Kai’s younger sister). But time has a way of eroding everything, even families that are supposed to be eternal. First John disappeared, beckoned to the east. The three remaining continued, forging a path without the sire they had grown accustomed to always being there… they didn’t have much choice in the matter. Together they joined House Carna, traveling to Arizona to participate in the talks about structure and community. Sometime after that, Magnus began to hear the whispers, first pulling his mind away and eventually calling him east to join the rest. This was indeed a darktime for Kai.
As heartbroken as Kai was, all he had left was his sister. And though they may fight like only siblings can, they are also fiercely protective of each other. Always….and forever.
