Iosefa, Ghost, Ghost!
There is a time when Kunspawn take their human form for the first time after Awakening. This tale is no different from others, no extraordinary revelation, just one's own first experiences.
My years were spent mostly swimming the depths of the oceans, uncovering stories, but every so often I would watch these large wooden ships cross the ocean, using the power of the gale winds to move. I had seen many before, but never the mammals that used them, until one darker OverSea, under the full strength of the Balm. A man fell into the water, beaten and bloody. I circled him, many times, looking at him, taking in every detail offered by sight.
He had fear about him, but I do not think it had been because of me.
I saw life slipping from his eyes, and so I came to him, and shifted for the very first time to Longfins. Upon seeing this, he reached out, and began to speak. I did not know the tongues of Mammal, though he spoke and pointed to the ship. Then the man fell limp in the water, drifting away in the waves of the ship's wake. I felt curious enough to follow, and find entry to the ship that was of interest to this man.
Once topside, I could hear another male voice begin to speak, and soon there was shouting, but again, they spoke a language different from the first. They feared they had seen a ghost, and the man returned, with no injuries before them. They grabbed things and began to make loud, thundering noises that stung one's flesh and bit without jaws or teeth. This made me angry. I shifted to Gladius as I charged, and began throwing these pale ones from the ship, biting, knocking them down, tearing limbs and disemboweling. Their screams filled the night as I attacked to make them stop.
When it was over, I returned to the man's form, and looked about the ship. Below I found many more that were similar to the man I saw in the water. They too had seen a ghost before them but they did not attack. Instead, they began to speak, yelling, that I know now, was begging. They pointed me to where the keys were, and I delivered it to them, and they freed themselves from chains. Unlike the others, they hugged me, I could see the tears on many faces. These ones were nice to me, and so I did not bother them.
I returned topside, as they began to mill about the deck of the ship. Of course the horrors of death covered it but they sought to control the ship.
I dived into the water and slipped into the depths, leaving them to their own devices.
