History
The Cult began to take shape as an offshoot of the Church of the Black Magdalene (Lore of the Clans page 59) in the Dark Ages. Father joined this cult in earnest but the Church of the Black Magdalene did not last through the fires of the Inquisition but Father himself did. As the ages passed, Father would continue to undo the work of the Arch-Aeon Jehovah.
Teachings
Borrowing their beliefs from the Church of the Black Magdalene:
“The teachings were thus: Christ had absolved original sin. The deception of the Aeons, however, fooled mortals into taking on further sins. Arch-Aeon Jehovah used the chief deceptions, Guilt and Law, to ensnare souls and hide the truth. The truth was thus: deeds of the body have no impact on salvation, and any act performed with love and joy is holy. The Magdalene sisters encouraged mortals to act upon desire, so sin and ask Christ’s forgiveness, until they could forgive themselves and cast off the shackles of shame forever.”
The Cult of the Serpent & Apple continue this belief. Adam & Eve were ensnared by the Arch-Aeon Jehovah in committing by tricking them into their first sin, shame. He then trapped them in the Garden of Eden. They teach that the serpent in the Garden of Eden was in fact one of the many incarnations of Set. The apple, as it were, was freeing them from the prison within Eden and taught man to be free of such sins. However, the Arch-Aeon Jehovah (or Ra) continued to retrap humanity with guilt, shame, and law to ensnare them further. Christ was a prophet of Set and he absolved this original sin but Arch-Aeon Jehovah’s slew him before he could deliver his final teaching to all. They then twisted his message to serve the Arch-Aeon Jehovah’s ends.
The Cult of the Serpent & Apple continue these teachings of freeing humanity from Jehovah’s traps. Mankind must be taught to be free of this, if that means they must be forgiven by Set’s priests until they can finally cast off the shackles of guilt, shame, and law then so be it.
Rituals & Practices
Confession
The priests of the Cult of the Serpent & Apple take confession from lay members of the cult but sins to the cult are far different than those of Christianity. Sins to the Cult of the Serpent & Apple include breaching Path of Ecstasy & Typhoon. When one sins, they can either forgive themselves or seek help and guidance from Priests.
Communion
Communion is not a regular thing done by the Cult of the Serpent & Apple. It is only done to welcome a new member to the Cult. When a prospective member has completed their Revelations and accepts the role Christ played in delivering Set’s divine wisdom, they drink from a Communion cup of mortal blood and profess their faith in front of their new brothers and sisters.
