Louis was a Frenchman who never lost his accent. He was very book learned and very interested in the study of the mind. Was at the foreground of modern psychology. To compare him and his childe: he is more scientific brain and Amelia more creative, languages come naturally to her. You look at the right brain vs left brain: and you basically get a list for each of them. Louis: Logical, analytical, linear, verbal, factual sequential. Amelia: creative, intuitive, artistic, emotional, musical, imaginative.
He was forever frustrated that she would not reach her full potential. She was smart but not motivated enough. He ran into the delinquent in an asylum in England. He had become obsessed with finding a daughter to replace the one he lost. Amelia looked enough like his daughter that he couldn’t bear to find another.
He was born sometime in the 1700s. He grew up in France and was married had a daughter. They lived in the country. In 1788 his wife and young daughter died of starvation during a great famine. He was devastated. Louis moved to the city. He was wallowing in pity. C. W. saw a broken man. She would find a use for him. A way to fix him. He became her ghoul. They stayed long enough to witness the French Revolution. Where Amelia had nightmares on her current fears or reliving her mortal life….Louis sees the guillotine, the riots, his family wasting away.
He showed Amelia a new view on existence- dispute every horror we have seen or experienced, we do not need to show it. We take each day and be grateful for new experiences and duties to the tower.
Being a man of order and logic and such, he sent her to America where she promptly got into trouble again and he had to save her from another Asylum. This time, learning that lesson from letting her off on her own, he ghouled her and kept her close. Insisted she learn French and adapt to accents. He didn’t have the artistic flare to mimic accents but it kept her entertained enough to focus on some studies at least. Louis only left her alone for short spouts of time until he brokered a deal to be able to earn the right of progeny.
This lead to more trauma. His trip took longer than expected and she had run into a member of her old group. He returned home to a young man fleeing the house. Inside he would find Amelia nearly dead of an overdose. He embraced her right there. But it took a bit to figure out what was wrong with her. (Addict) Blood her could drink wasn’t working for her. She couldn’t imbibe the blood of animals. Thankfully after some trial and error he finally figured it out. But nearly losing this second daughter…he kept her close. Even after her accounting, she remained close to him until 2021.
Thought to have gone missing or beckoned since abandoning his childe in Pittsburgh in January 2022.
