Bio

BASIL KARLOW (real name: Harry L. Mumford); an actor best known for his horror films in the 1970s.

Moving to Los Angeles to pursue acting, Harry broke into a showbiz as an extra; starring as a bell boy in "Hotel of Fear" at the age of 22.

Unfortunately, by his thirties Harry was just another out of work actor, but he somehow managed to reinvigorate his career when he landed the lead role in "The Vampire Killers".

As a marketing move, the studio promoted him as if he were a real-life vampire hunter. The strategy paid off and the flick was a hit, leading to a series of horror films which enjoyed moderate success.

NOTE: To this day you can still find a number of these old films on VHS and Betamax, including: "Orgy of the Werewolves," "Jaws of the Gargoyle," "Psycho Death House," "Scream Dracula Scream," and several others.
