The first recorded birth in New Amsterdam, he was the grandson of the founder of the Dutch East India Company, an organization built around the dark, vampire-worshiping blood cult of Pieter's mortal family. Groomed for the embrace since he was born, he was embraced in 1665 as the English took New Amsterdam.

Once released and under Sabbat occupation, Pieter changed to his nom de guerre of Diedrich Knickerbocker, a name he has kept ever since. Remaining in New York City, Diedrich spent the centuries working as a sort of resistance guerilla fighter, using his vast influence and resources to make unlife for the Sabbat as hellish as possible.
